MY WEEK – June 5-11
Here are some of the highlights from my week:
• Downtown San Jose residents had been without key health services since San Jose Medical Center closed in 2004. So, it was with great pleasure that I attended the grand opening of the Valley Health Center Downtown, operated under the auspices of the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. This new facility increases access to primary care, pediatrics, preventative care and more.
• In addition to attending Senate floor sessions and my assigned committee hearings, I met with constituents and representatives for organizations, including:
The Western Center on Law and Poverty; California Rural Legal Assistance; the California Trucking Association; the City and County Association of San Mateo County; the Valley Transportation Authority; LeadingAge California; the California Cattlemen’s Association; and People Acting in Community Together.
• I also toured Rocketship Fuerza School and spoke at the Silicon Valley Annual Youth Technology Day, which was held at the Seven Trees Community Center. I also took part in the San Andreas Regional Center’s 50th anniversary celebration of the Lanterman Act.
