LEXINGTON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL GETS $3.9 MILLION IN STATE FUNDING

After working with the Los Gatos Union School District for more than two years, I am glad to report that I was able to help persuade the State Allocation Board to reimburse the district for $3.9 million in hazard mitigation costs related to the construction of the new Lexington School District.

Community Coffee

My series of community coffees continues on Friday, Feb. 20, at Maple Leaf Donuts, 6473 Almaden Expressway, San Jose. I'll be there from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.

These meetings help me understand what issues are important to the residents of Senate District 15. Also, residents who are having a problem with a state agency can seek a clarification through my office.

SENIOR SCAM STOPPER

I am sponsoring a Senior Scam Stopper Town Hall in January to alert seniors on how to spot and avoid swindles. Representatives for local, state, and federal agencies will discuss how to identify theft, auto repair, investment, and construction-related scams.

TRANSPORTATION TOWN HALL

I will be convening a town hall meeting on transportation in December to investigate how California can finance highway maintenance as the gas tax revenue, the main funding source for road improvements, continues to fall. This hearing will consider the pros and cons of various strategies to increase the amount of funding available for transportation projects.

MOBILE DISTRICT OFFICE

Because not everyone has the time to visit my office in Campbell or meet me at one of my community coffees, I decided years ago to have my staff conduct mobile district office hours in the community. The mobile district offices offer Senate District 15 residents a convenient way to get help or information regarding a state-related issue or problem.
