The Assembly passed Assembly Bill (AB) 126 on Thursday, May 3, 2007 by a vote of 68-3.  This bill will quadruple the number of inspections of structural fummigation jobs in the County of Santa Clara and help enforcement efforts across the state of California.

On May 3, 2007, Assembly Member Jim Beall, Jr.’s (D-San Jose) Bill (AB) 171 passed the Assembly Floor by a vote of 44-30.  This bill encourages young attorneys to take public interest jobs that provide legal help to the neediest in our society.

The Assembly Business and Professionals Committee passed Assembly Bill (AB) 126 on March 27, 2007 by a vote of 9-0.  This bill will fund more inspections of structural fummigations in the County of Santa Clara, and help enforcement efforts across the state of California.

The California Assembly committee on Higher Education passed Assembly Bill 171 in a 5-2 party line vote.

“Public interests attorneys are essential to ensuring justice for all,” said Assembly Member Jim Beall, Jr. (D – San Jose) when arguing for the bill infront of the committee, “because public interest attorneys help the most vurenable in our society navigate our legal system.”

SACRAMENTO – Today, Assembly Member Jim Beall, Jr. (D - San Jose) returned from a visit to Washington, D.C. to lobby the Bush Administration and Congress for more federal funds for California and for learning about the status of federal legislation and programs that impact the state. Beall, Chair of the Assembly Human Services Committee and Author of AJR 4, was on Capitol Hill from Monday, March 19 through Wednesday, March 21, 2007.

The Assembly Higher Education Committee passed Assembly Bill (AB) 152 yesterday by a vote of 5 to 2.  Assembly Member Jim Beall, Jr. (D - San Jose) authored AB 152.  He believes this bill will help California’s families save for college.

AB 152 will establish the California Prepaid Tuition Program.  This program will enable parents, grandparents, and family members to buy their children’s future tuition today.
