Beall Receives "California Tech Champions'' Award

SACRAMENTO – Sen. Jim Beall, whose district includes some of Silicon Valley’s biggest companies, will be honored by TechAmerica this evening for his leadership on technology issues at the State Legislature.

Beall is one of five legislators who have been recognized as “California Tech Champions’’ for 2014 by TechAmerica which serves as the public sector and public advocacy department for the Computing Technology Industry Association, a non-profit trade group comprised of thousands of members in the information communications and technology industry.

“Technology is the life blood of my district,’’ Beall said. “The tech industry not only employs more than 270,000 people in Silicon Valley but its cutting-edge innovation has pulled California’s economy out of the recession. So, I consider it a great honor to have been named by TechAmerica said as one of it California Tech Champions.’’

Last year, Beall helped fashion a compromise to SB 926, also known as the “Kill Switch” bill, that not only worked to protect cell phone customer but also met the concerns of manufacturers.
