MEET ME

As your new state Senator for District 15, I'm continuing my series of informal coffee meetings that I began years ago as a member of the state Assembly.

These meetings allow residents to speak one-on-one with me on any state-related issue that's on their minds. I'll be meeting with people on a first-come, first-serve basis. My next coffee meeting is scheduled for:

SACRAMENTO – A proposal to eliminate the statute of limitations for victims of child molestation to file lawsuits against their abusers has been introduced by Sen. Jim Beall, D-San Jose.

SACRAMENTO -- “Gov. Brown laid out an ambitious plan today to guide California forward,’’ Sen. Jim Beall, D-San Jose, said today, “and I’m eager to learn more details about it, especially his proposals that affect the environment and how California implements the federal Affordable Care Act to meet our growing health needs. I agree with his drive to increase government efficiency, keep college tuition in line, repair California’s infrastructure, and nurture job creation.

SACRAMENTO – Legislation making it easier for people with disabilities to register to vote over the state’s online system was introduced Tuesday by Sen. Jim Beall.  Senate Bill 111 is sponsored by California Secretary of State Debra Bowen.

“Senate Bill 111 gives people with disabilities a convenient and quick way to submit their online voter registration form with the use of a signature stamp,’’ Beall said. “With a simple and straightforward update in the statutes, the state can grant them the same accessibility the rest of us have in registering to vote.’’

Santa Clara County Open Space Authority Praises Bill for Tax Savings

SACRAMENTO -- Assembly Bill 2388, legislation to streamline laws to make it easier for the Santa Clara County Open Space Authority to protect and maintain public lands, was signed into law by the Governor today.

"I have always been a strong supporter of  protecting and increasing open space in Santa Clara County,’’ said Beall, who as a former member of the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors helped secure local open space and protect watersheds.

Sacramento - Too many families are getting squeezed out of a higher education by the triple digit fee increases over the past decade and the struggling economy. To make higher education more affordable Assemblymember Jim Beall (D-San Jose) is joining with Assembly Speaker John A. Pérez (D-Los Angeles) in an effort to pass the Middle Class Scholarship Act (www.MiddleClassScholarship.com).
