Santa Clara County Open Space Authority Praises Bill for Tax Savings

SACRAMENTO -- Assembly Bill 2388, legislation to streamline laws to make it easier for the Santa Clara County Open Space Authority to protect and maintain public lands, was signed into law by the Governor today.

"I have always been a strong supporter of  protecting and increasing open space in Santa Clara County,’’ said Beall, who as a former member of the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors helped secure local open space and protect watersheds.

"I’m pleased the governor shares my commitment to preserving and protecting our open spaces. This bill will make it easier and more economical for the authority to keep our open spaces pristine for our posterity.’’

Andrea Mackenzie, general manger of the Santa Clara County Open Space Authority, agreed with Beall’s assessment.

"AB 2388 will save taxpayers money in the long run and result in more efficient and effective protection of public open space lands in California," Mackenzie said.
