It’s getting busier and busier at the State Capitol as my office moves forward with legislation. This session I have introduced 24 bills and they are going through the committee process. To see status updates on my bills, please visit my legislation page here.

The very best part of my work is meeting the residents of Senate District 15.

On March 9th I hosted the Women of the Year event which was dedicated to women who have made Silicon Valley a better place. This year’s honorees were: Lifetime Achievement: The Reverend Sharon Hare, Community Service: Laurel Perusa, Mentorship: Maria Marcelo, Trailblazer: Deb Kramer, Business Leader: Jessica Carreira and Rising Star: Erin Salazar. See a recap video.

I hosted my Education Town Hall on March 17th at the Cypress Community Center to discuss the future of K-12 education. It coincided with the last scheduled day my winter interns. I introduced them to Town Hall audience and saluted their hard work. Watch a video stream of the event.

Last week, I also hosted a Caltrans Clean-Up in partnership with San Jose Councilmember Johnny Khamis. We had some great volunteers come out and remove litter from the Almaden Expressway-State Route 85 on-ramp.
