Governor's Proposed Budget Is Difficult, Painful and Realistic

(Sacramento) – Gov. Jerry Brown's State of the State address to the Legislature presented lawmakers with details of the state’s economic troubles and what needs to be done to move California forward. California's public schools are at a crossroads. After four years of cuts, our schools have lost $20 billion in funding and 38,000 full-time teachers while student enrollment tops more than 6 million.

What can we do to improve our embattled schools and how can California restore revenues that that have been slashed?

Assembly Bill 57, legislation introduced by Assemblymember Jim Beall that adds a new seat for the city of San Jose on the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, was signed into law today by Gov. Jerry Brown.

Beall helps get $208 million for Santa Clara County Superior Court

SACRAMENTO – The Santa Clara County Superior Court will receive more than $208 million in state funding, shepherded through the state budget by Assemblymember Jim Beall, for the construction of a new Family Justice Center in downtown San Jose. The appropriation was approved Wednesday by the Legislature.
