3rd Annual Picnic by the Lake: A Multicultural Festival and Legislative Resource Fair
California State Senator Dave Cortese invites Senate District 15 residents to his 3rd Annual Picnic by the Lake: A Multicultural Festival and Legislative Resource Fair! Picnic by the Lake will take place on Saturday, October 25th, 2025 from 10 AM to 3 PM at Hellyer County Park located at 985 Hellyer Avenue in San Jose, CA.
Picnic by the Lake is being held in partnership with the County of Santa Clara Parks and Recreation Department and the San Jose Japantown Lions Club and Foundation. The Multicultural Festival and Legislative Resource Fair is an all-free event open to the public which will feature:
- A kid’s zone with inflatables, face painting, and bubbles!
- A rock climbing wall
- Raffle prizes
- Nearly 100+ resource booths
- Flu shots
- Multicultural performances from local community groups
- Free beef and veggie burgers while supplies last
- Pumpkin patch with free pumpkins while supplies last
PARKING
Free parking will be made available at Hellyer County Park as well as at four separate offsite locations:
- Family Life Christian Center: 801 Hellyer Ave; San Jose, CA.
- G.W. Hellyer Elementary School: 725 Hellyer Ave; San Jose, CA 95111
- Christopher Elementary School: 565 Coyote Rd; San Jose, CA 95111
- Hellyer Oaks Technology Park: 5215 Hellyer Ave; San Jose, CA 95138
There will be free shuttle services providing guests rides to and from the Family Life Christian Center parking lot, Christopher Elementary School, the Hellyer Oaks Technology Park, and Hellyer County Park. We are expecting a large volume of attendees and recommend that those who are able to bike, use our alternate parking sites, and avoid using the Hellyer Ave/US 101 exit if possible.
Please see below for a map that shows the parking locations and shuttle services in relation to the park itself. Please note there will be two shuttle routes based on the location of the parking you use.
ABOUT HELLYER COUNTY PARK
Hellyer County Park offers 178 acres of urban land and is located in the heart of Santa Clara County's regional park system. The Coyote Creek, which meanders through the center of the park, is the focus of the park's natural environment. A thick undergrowth and tall trees characterize the well-defined creek channel which is home to many different species of wildlife.
