July 2026 Community Events and Involvement

  • Pattie and I had a great time at Morgan Hill Freedom Fest’s July 4th Parade—our first since Morgan Hill joined the 15th Senate District! It was wonderful to celebrate our nation’s 250th anniversary with thousands of residents. Thank you to Mayor Mark Turner, Councilmembers Miriam Vega and Yvonne Martínez Beltrán for the warm welcome. My staff also proudly participated in San Jose’s Rose, White and Blue Parade.
  • Join me in welcoming our new 15th Senate District Intern, Rachel Aguilar! She joins my office after completing her Master’s Degree in Public Policy from the University of Chicago.
  • It was an honor to attend the America 250 Kickoff Celebration at the California State Capitol, where I joined my Senate colleagues to watch a military flyover. As we mark our nation’s 250th anniversary, I’m proud to honor our veterans, service members, first responders, and all who have helped build and protect this great nation.

June 2026 Community Events and Involvement

  • I was honored to participate in the Stemtree San Jose grand opening celebration! Located in the Evergreen Village Square, Stemtree aims to serve K-12 students through hands-on learning in Science, Engineering, Coding, and Math. Congratulations to owners, Naga and Chetana Prasad, on this exciting accomplishment!
  • I was honored to speak at Agri-Pulse Communications, Inc.'s Food & Ag Issues Summit about the future of California agriculture. In the Legislature, I've served on the Senate Agriculture Committee and worked to protect California's agricultural lands, including through my SB 462 to preserve working farms and ranches through the California Farmland Conservancy Program.
  • The Economic Summit at San Jose State University was impressive, where community leaders, academics, and policymakers came together to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing Silicon Valley.

May 2026 Community Events and Involvement

  • I hosted my 23rd Annual Sacramento Bus Trip for Education on May 18th, bringing together nearly 200 students, parents, educators, & leaders to experience California’s democracy firsthand at the State Capitol! I was joined by Sen. President pro Tempore Monique Limón, Sen. Mike McGuire, Sen. Rosilicie Ochoa Bogh, Sen. John Laird, David Schapira, Asm. Darshana Patel, Asm. Lori Wilson, Asm. Al Muratsuchi, Nichole Munoz-Murillo, Seth Bramble, and Ron Walker.
  • Pattie and I were honored to attend Pivotal’s year-end celebration recognizing the incredible achievements of Pivotal scholars and graduates who are foster youth overcoming great odds. We joined Pivotal's Chief Development Director Chelsea Souza and her husband Adam. These young leaders have worked hard to overcome challenges, pursue higher education, and build brighter futures for themselves and their communities. Their determination and resilience are inspiring.
  • My wife Pattie and I were honored to join Santa Clara County Board Supervisor Otto Lee at his Palestinian flag raising ceremony at the County Government Center. The event was a powerful celebration of Palestinian culture through art, music, and community — uplifting the rich traditions, resilience, and humanity of the Palestinian people.

April 2026 Community Events & Involvement

  • As a Senator, one of my favorite things to do is to connect with young people who are interested and passionate about pursuing a public service career. I enjoyed welcoming students from both Bellarmine College Preparatory (my alma mater) and Presentation High School to my Capitol office and hearing from them directly about the legislative priorities rooted in social justice that they are passionate about.
  • I want to thank my Senate colleagues for supporting my Senate Resolution 93 (SR 93) in honor and recognition of Jim Plunkett, former Mexican-American Raiders quarterback and two time Super Bowl champion. My SR 93 calls upon the National Football League's (NFL) Pro Football Hall of Fame selection committee to once and for all induct Jim into the Pro Hall of Fame as part of its 2027 class of inductees.
  • I was honored to join the dedicated educators and advocates at the Santa Clara County Service Center Council (SCC) annual brunch. As a regional hub of the California Teachers Association and the National Education Association, SCC plays a critical role in supporting teachers, strengthening local chapters, and advancing public education. Thank you for your tireless work to uplift students, protect educator rights, and build a stronger future for our communities.
