Town Hall on Wildfire Preparedness and Protection in Santa Clara County - 11/18/21

Town Hall on Wildfire Preparedness and Protection in Santa Clara County - 11/18/21

-

California is experiencing year-round wildfire seasons.

We all need to turn our attention to not only the risks of wildfire in our unique area here in the Bay Area, but also focus on prevention and preparedness.

This year, the State Legislature passed historic funding for wildfire prevention to prevent more wildfire disasters – funds to improve forest health, vegetation management and more. And Senator Cortese was also able to secure funding for state-of-the-art technology to communicate securely and effectively during a wildfire or natural disaster here in Senate District 15.

On Thursday November 18th at 6:00pm, join Senator Cortese and representatives from the Santa Clara County Fire Department, the San Jose Fire Department, CAL FIRE, and the Insurance Commissioner’s Office for an informative Town Hall that will cover what the state is doing to ensure we are planning for and responding to emergencies the right way as well as important information and resources for community members.

Topics covered during this Town Hall will include:

  • Local Response Resources
  • Defensible Space and Home Hardening
  • Evacuation Coordination
  • Emergency Alerts & Communication
  • Red Flag Warnings
  • Fire Insurance Resources

Register to attend the event at www.tinyurl.com/SD15Prepared so that you are prepared to protect yourself and those around you.

This Town Hall will be hosted through ZOOM. It will be also live-streamed, with closed captioning options, and made available for later viewing through Senator Cortese's Facebook page and website.
