Sen. Cortese's Statement on the Appointment of CA High-Speed Rail Authority's New Chief Executive Officer, Ian Choudri
The following statement is attributable to Senator Dave Cortese (D-San Jose) on the appointment of Ian Choudri as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the California High-Speed Rail Authority.
“As Chair of the California Senate Transportation Committee, past leadership with the Bay Area’s Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC), and two decades as a board member of the Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) in Santa Clara County, I look forward to working alongside Ian Choudri, California’s High-Speed Rail Authority newly appointed Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Choudri’s 30+ years of leadership experience in the transportation sector makes him uniquely qualified to oversee the completion of California’s transformational and ambitious high-speed rail project in the world’s 5th largest economy which aims to link whole regions to one another. I also wish to commend retiring CEO Brian Kelly for his many years of services stewarding us into a more sustainable ground transportation future. Through his visionary leadership and will, California was able to lift and advance the high-speed rail project into a better, brighter tomorrow.”
