Invitation to Silicon Valley's Pilgrimage to La Paz, Honoring Cesar Chavez - April 21!
|
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the passing of Cesar Chavez, and we’re pleased to host Silicon Valley's annual Pilgrimage to La Paz on Friday, April 21st, at the National Chavez Center in Keene, California.
This free event honors Chavez’ commitment to social justice and human dignity, allowing advocates, changemakers, and community members to learn and reflect on the legacy of the labor leader. Attendees will hear a presentation from the Cesar Chavez Foundation and visit the memorial garden surrounding the final resting place of Cesar Chavez. We started hosting this annual pilgrimage to La Paz in 2007, and are delighted to see how the event has grown and become something larger than all of us.
To RSVP for this bus trip, visit www.tinyurl.com/2023LaPaz.
This event is free due to our generous sponsors: The Nuñez Community Foundation, County Supervisor Otto Lee, San Josè Councilmember Sergio Jimenez, Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Silicon Valley, and the Cesar Chavez Foundation.
We hope you can join us for this momentous pilgrimage. Please contact my office with any questions at Senator.Cortese@sen.ca.gov.
“A true American hero, Cesar Chavez was a civil rights, Latino and farm labor leader; a genuinely religious and spiritual figure; a community organizer and social entrepreneur; a champion of militant nonviolent social change; and a crusader for the environment and consumer rights.
As a common man with an uncommon vision, Cesar Chavez stood for equality, justice and dignity for all Americans. His universal principals remain as relevant and inspiring today as they were when he first began his movement.”
