Senator Cortese Secures $750,000 for Ashes to Beauty to Strengthen Support for Immigrant Families in Silicon Valley
SACRAMENTO, CA – California State Senator Dave Cortese (D-San José) has secured $750,000 in state funding for Ashes to Beauty as part of the Legislature’s 2026 Budget Bill Jr. package, supporting this organization’s efforts to connect immigrant families in Silicon Valley with essential services and trusted community resources.
The investment is part of $6.5 million in funding Senator Cortese secured for Senate District 15 organizations through the 2026 Budget Bill Jr. package. These district investments support local organizations working in environmental sustainability, youth development, affordable housing, and assistance for immigrant families.
“Every family deserves access to the information and resources they need to build a stable future,” said Senator Cortese. “This $750,000 investment will strengthen Ashes to Beauty’s ability to reach immigrant families who too often face barriers to essential services and trusted assistance. Community organizations like Ashes to Beauty are uniquely positioned to meet families where they are, and I am proud to have secured state resources to support that work.”
The budget provides $750,000 to Ashes to Beauty to support continued outreach and assistance for immigrant families. The funding will strengthen the organization’s ability to connect families with essential resources and community support while expanding its capacity to reach residents who may face language, information, or access barriers.
“This support will strengthen our existing trusted community hub while expanding our reach to families facing language, information, and access barriers. When these barriers remain unaddressed, families can miss essential services, experience greater instability, and reach preventable points of crisis,” said Director Lidia Jimenez. “A critical part of this work will be helping families—especially vulnerable youth—identify potential pathways to lawful immigration status and connect with qualified legal support.”
The investment will allow Ashes to Beauty to build on its community-based approach and strengthen connections between immigrant families and the services available to them. By expanding outreach and support, the organization will be better positioned to help families navigate complex systems and foster a dependable pathway to assistance.
