Senator Dave Cortese Congratulates Incoming California Senate President pro Tempore Senator Monique Limón, Marking California History

SACRAMENTO, CA — California State Senator Dave Cortese issued the following statement congratulating Senator Monique Limón (District 21) on her swearing in as the new California State Senate President pro Tempore:

“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Senator Monique Limón on becoming the next President pro Tempore of the California State Senate. Her historic election as the first Latina and the first woman of color to serve in this role is a powerful milestone for our state and a testament to her leadership, integrity, and deep commitment to California’s diverse communities.”

“Senator Limón and I have worked closely on key legislative priorities that strengthen California’s future—from advancing sustainable transportation solutions and environmental stewardship to expanding clean energy and protecting the rights and dignity of Latino and immigrant communities. Her collaborative approach and steady leadership have helped move meaningful policies forward, and I am proud of the work we have supported together.”

Senate President pro Tempore Limon reappointed Senator Cortese to the California Transportation Commission (CTC) as well as the California Commission for Behavioral Health Services, Oversight, and Accountability.
