San Jose’s First Public Law School!

I’m working to bring San Jose, and Santa Clara County, its first-ever public law school – because justice can’t wait.

San Jose is the third largest city in the state, and we lead in many areas like innovation and technology.

But we are falling behind when it comes to providing accessibility to a high-quality legal education in our community. The nearest public law schools are hours away, and private options remain out of reach for many aspiring legal minds.

Read my latest OpEd in San Jose Spotlight about why I believe we deserve a public law school and what I’m doing to make that happen. My bill, SB 550, is moving quickly through the Legislature to make our community’s first public law school a reality and it has already garnered support from the Law Foundation of Silicon Valley, the Santa Clara County Bar Association, and other local legal aid organizations.

A local, public law school will open doors for countless professionals and have a reverberating positive impact across our entire region.
