California Must Invest in Transportation Infrastructure as a Climate Solution

As climate change continues to threaten our communities, we can’t let another year go by without a transportation infrastructure package.

In my role on the Senate Transportation Committee and the Senate Budget & Fiscal Review Committee, I advocated that we invest some of our historically high surplus dollars to transit projects that will create high-quality jobs and help us reach our climate goals.

This year’s legislative budget package includes a $10.9 billion comprehensive transportation infrastructure package, to fund for transit, freight, active transportation, high speed rail, climate adaptation, and more.

Serving as Chair of the Metropolitan Transportation Commission and a Member of the Valley Transportation Authority, I know that California must invest in public transportation infrastructure as part of our climate solution.
