SACRAMENTO – At the end of the California legislative session today, Senator Dave Cortese (D-Silicon Valley) had a significant number of bills passed by both houses and sent to the Governor’s office ranging from protecting Californians and their property from wildfires to insurance reform, transportation & climate resilience.
The bills authored by Senator Cortese and now on the Governor’s desk include:
SACRAMENTO – In a dramatic ending on the last day of the session, the California Legislature today passed a monumental financial life-line to the High-Speed-Rail Project that ensures predictable funding to move forward with construction, create jobs and build California’s High-Speed Rail system.
SACRAMENTO – Senator Dave Cortese’s (D-Silicon Valley) SB 683, allowing individuals to seek the immediate removal of unauthorized materials including their name, voice or likeness for commercial purposes within two business days today was passed by the Assembly and goes back to the Senate for approval.
The bill is intended to address and prevent exploitation, particularly in situations where individuals' personal information or images are used without their consent.
SACRAMENTO – As wildfires continue to break out throughout California, Senator Dave Cortese’s SB 429 will help homeowners understand their property’s wildfire risk. It creates the nation’s first-of-its-kind public wildfire catastrophe model to assess wildfire risk and help inform insurance rates.
SACRAMENTO - Senator Dave Cortese’s (D-Silicon Valley) SB 551 bill, with the goals of improving the prison stress and safety levels for correctional officers, and the rehabilitative environment for inmates so they can return to their communities and not re-offend, today passed the Senate on concurrence and heads to the Governor’s desk.
