Senator Dave Cortese (D-San Jose) expressed gratitude today for a growing list of cities and counties passing resolutions supporting Senate Bill (SB) 915. The cities of Oakland and Los Angeles, and the counties of Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Mateo have recently approved resolutions backing Senator Cortese’s critical legislation that empowers local communities to govern autonomous vehicles. Leading U.S. Senate candidate Rep. Adam Schiff has also endorsed SB 915.




The following statement is attributable to Senator Dave Cortese (D-San Jose) on his appointment today to the California Transportation Commission (CTC), a 13-member body responsible for programming and allocating funds for the construction of highway, passenger rail, transit and active transportation improvements throughout California.




Senator Dave Cortese (D-San Jose) issued the following statement regarding the California Public Utilities Commission's decision to grant Waymo permission to expand across 22 cities in the South Bay Area and Los Angeles. This decision comes without evident consultation with local governments and follows a 120-day suspension on Waymo’s expansion made by the CPUC just 11 days ago.




This letter asks DMV about any correspondence with Waymo regarding a software recalls following collisions involving two of its robotaxis in Phoenix, AZ.
