Senator Cortese (D-Silicon Valley) has introduced SB 1184 to ensure California students get the behavioral support they need.

Today, Senator Melissa Hurtado (D-Sanger) introduced SB 1219 — State Water Resiliency and Modernization Act -- to reimagine water management in the 21st century— that works to create a sustainable water system prioritizing preservation and sustainability for all of California by building a Blue Ribbon Commission, and dissolving the current Water Board.

Senator Cortese (D-Silicon Valley) has introduced SB 1170 to ensure small school and community college districts, and their financial stability, are less disproportionately impacted by recall petitions that require a comparatively low signature threshold. SB 1170 is sponsored by the Small School Districts Association.

Senator Cortese, (D-Silicon Valley), and Assemblymember Evan Low (D-Silicon Valley) believe it’s time to modernize the Brown Act to meet the unique needs of our present day.

The Ralph M. Brown Act was originally enacted in 1953 to govern the conduct of public meetings for local legislative bodies, but many provisions in the Brown Act remain antiquated.

Senator Cortese, (D-Silicon Valley), Chair of the Senate Labor, Public Employment and Retirement Committee, has teamed up with California State Treasurer Fiona Ma to provide more Californians the opportunity to save for their retirement by expanding eligibility of the CalSavers program.
