Classified Workers in California’s Schools Get A Boost as Senator Cortese’s Legislation Is Passed By the Assembly PERS Committee

SACRAMENTO -  California’s Classified School Employees including cafeteria workers, counselors, nurses, janitors and others in California’s public schools and community colleges are the focus of state Senator Dave Cortese’s Senate Bill 494 and Senate Joint Resolution 2 that were passed today by the Assembly Public Employment and Retirement Committee.

SACRAMENTO –  The state Assembly Committee on Business and Professions today passed Senator Dave Cortese’s SB 602 which would permit a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to conduct vaccine and parasite control wellness appointments in many animal shelters.

The bill now moves forward to the Assembly Appropriations Committee. 



Highly Destructive Summer Vegetation Wildfires Are Underway As Senator Cortese’s Bill Reducing Their Risk Passes the Assembly Natural Resources Committee

SACRAMENTO – As highly destructive vegetation fires start off the summer in California, Senator Dave Cortese’s (D-Silicon Valley) bill developed in response to the fires was passed today by the Assembly Natural Resources Committee.

 SB 653 is designed to define vegetation management practices that reduce wildfire risk while also supporting native wildlife and plant health.
