Cortese Announces He Will Introduce Legislation in California to Prevent Accidental Shootings on Theatrical Productions
Senator Dave Cortese (D-Silicon Valley), chair of the California Senate’s Labor Committee, expressed that he intends to introduce legislation that would ban live ammunition, and firearms that are capable of firing live ammunition, from movie sets and theatrical productions in California.
WHAT: Members of the news media will be given a tour of the first Vietnamese American Service Center (VASC) in the nation that will serve as a model for other major cities with large Vietnamese-American populations. There will be a community unveiling the following week.
Today, California Governor Newsom signed AB 1171 that modernizes California’s spousal rape law. Today the Governor has signed SB 383 authored by Senator Dave Cortese (D-Silicon Valley) which will increase access to diversion programs for youth that commit non-violent felonies with an aim of shifting the focus of our justice system from incarceration to rehabilitation.

Today, 50 State Senators and Assembly Members, including top leadership in the State Legislature, sent a letter to the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers urging the association to negotiate collaboratively and in good faith with Hollywood craft workers advocating for improved wages and working conditions on movie and television sets.
